United States Air Force Cross by LIGI - His Lordship Products, Inc. of New York, New York. Instituted November 1, 1965, Air Force Cross is the second highest military decoration for airmen and guardians who distinguish themselves with extraordinary heroism in combat with an armed enemy force. It is constructed out of a two-piece die struck bronze base that contains green enamel work. The obverse features a centrally placed American eagle on top of a cloud formation (from the crest of the Department of the Air Force Seal), surrounded by a laurel leaf wreath, on top of a Greek style cross. The reverse is plain. To the top is a decorative mount, ball loop and ring. The ring holds a blue, white and red ribbon. The reverse of the ribbon features a rectangular bar, which is maker marked: “LIGI”, and holds a soldered-on pin, hinge and catch assembly. The cross measures 1 7/8 inches square.
