Abzeichen für Reichsautobahn Mangfallbrücke Berlin-München 1936 I.V. B.H. II. Kongress by Carl Poellath of Schrobenhausen. It is probable that this piece given to the architectures/workers who contributed to Mangfallbrücke, which was opened to traffic in January 1936, making it one of the first major bridges on the Reichsautobahn. It is constructed out of a die struck brass base that has been gold gilded and contains blue, white and red enamel work. The rectangular shaped obverse features a white bridge (the 288 m long beam bridge Mangfallbrücke) on a blue background below “Berlin-München 1936” (top-left corner) and “I.V. B.H. II. Kongress” (bottom left) on a red background. The full back reverse is maker marked: “Carl Poellath Schrobenhausen” and has a soldered-on round plate, marked “Carl Poellath Schrobenhausen” that holds a horizontally placed pin assembly. It measures 1 1/8 inches wide by 1 ¼ inches tall. A unique piece.
