Luftwaffe Medaille für Ausgezeichnete Technische Leistung. This Medal for Outstanding Achievements in the Technical branch of the Luftwaffe was intended to reward outstanding technical achievements in the Air Force which could not be awarded with the War Merit Cross or a similar award. It is constructed out of a die stamped zinc base that has been silver washed. The round shaped obverse features the left facing bust of Hermann Göring surrounded by “Der Befehlshaber der Luftwaffe Reichsmarschall Göring” (The Commander of the Luftwaffe Reichsmarschall Göring). The reverse displays a 2nd pattern Luftwaffe Eagle emblem surrounded by “Für Ausgezeichnete Leistungen im Technischen Dienst der Luftwaffe” (German - For Exemplary Technical Services in the Luftwaffe). It measures 75mm in diameter. nice vaulting. Missing from most Luftwaffe award collections!
