A 1. Stufe. Polizei-Dienstauszeichnung für 25-jährige. Instituted January 30, 1938, the Police Service Award was awarded to active members of the German Police who gave 25 years of service surrounding the Third Reich era. It is constructed out of a die struck tombak base that has been gold fire gilded with polished highlights. The obverse features a centrally placed 2nd pattern police emblem, which consists of a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika in its talons above an oval oak leaf wreath, which is in front of a pebbled pattée style cross that has a smooth border. The reverse “Für Treue Dienst in der Polizei” (For Loyal Service in the Police) within an oval smooth backing and in front of that same style cross. To the top is a soldered-on loop and ring. The award shows nice age patina. It measures 1 ¾ of an inch square. Accompanying the award is 5 3/4 inches of folded over blue rayon ribbon that has a yellow 2nd pattern police eagle emblem stitched on. The award and ribbon come housed in their original issue case. The case is constructed out a wood and pressed cardboard base that is covered in a green simulated leatherette. The top features a wreathed “25” in a pressed gold foil. The interior lid features a pearl satin and the base features a grey fibrous felt insert. The front has a spring-loaded closure button and the back has a staggered barrel hinge. The interior hinge is torn and there are scuff marks throughout. The case measures 2 5/16 inches wide by 4 3/16 inches deep by 5/8 of an inch thick.
