Early SS Dagger by RZM 121/34

A Model 1933 Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by RZM 121/34 SS (1934). The blade on this one looks great. The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and “RZM 121/34 SS” maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain looks excellent as you shine it in the light. The blade is nicely seated up against the hilt and the and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates a Exc++. It shows spotting and minor pitting throughout. The sheet metal based black anodized scabbard looks excellent. It remains completely dent free and 99% of the original factory lacquer remains intact. There is the odd lacquer scratch throughout and evidence to the back where a rivet from a vertical hanger had rubbed. The two nickel-silver scabbard fittings look great. The odd bruise, yet nice patina. The ball has the odd bump. All four scabbard screws remain intact and unturned. The scabbard to crossguard fit is near-perfect. The crossguards are solid nickel-silver and the patina matches the scabbard quite nicely. The grip is black died hardwood. It has several cracks and chips throughout. The solid nickel-silver eagle is wonderfully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 95%+ of its enamel. When I got this the roundel was separate. It was obvious that it had been glued-in, in the period. I did glue it back in and is practically unnoticeable. I know and so I tell you. A great example, just purchased from the Veteran’s grandson!
