Deutsches Rotes Kreuz Helferin Abzeichen by Hermann Aurich of Dresden. Female DRK personnel were issued an active service brooch to be worn as a duty badge at the nape of the neck of the service uniform. It is constructed out of a die-struck nickel-silver base that has been silver washed and contains red, black and white enamel work. The round shaped obverse depicts a centrally placed red cross on a white circular backing, which is then all encircled by, in silvered Gothic style script: “Deutsches Rotes Kreuz Helferin”, (German Red Cross Helper), on a black backing. The concave reverse is clearly maker marked: “HA”, and “Ges. Gesch.” and shows a well working pin, hinge and catch assembly. The enamel work is 98% intact. It measures approximately 1 1/8 inches in diameter.
