Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Ernst Hugo Rasspe of Solingen. The blade on this one is looks good. The acid etched “Alles fur Deutschland” motto and “EHR Ernst Hugo Rasspe Solingen” maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain is nice and visible as you shine it in the light. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates an Exc+. It shows scratches, spotting, pitting and age grey throughout. The sheet metal based brown anodized scabbard looks good. It has oxidization spotting throughout. It remains dent free. The solid nickel silver scabbard fittings have nicely patinaed. They show some scratches and bumps throughout. The ball remains perfectly round and all four screws are intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is near perfect and closes with a snap. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau stamped “Wf” (Westfallen), looks as thorugh it was a double strike. The brown hardwood grip looks good. It shows two stain spots to the obverse along with two flake chips and minor pressure marks throughout. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed and has a perfect fit, there is a scratch just above it to the right. The SA roundel is nicely patinaed, also has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. A solid piece.
