Luftwaffe AK-39 Wrist Compass
Luftwaffen Armkompass 1939 by Kadlec of Prague. Introduced in 1939, this piece was essential for the Luftwaffe navigating and observing. It was worn on either the wrist or hanging from the shoulder. It is made of clear and black bakelite with blackened leather wrist straps along with brass and alloy fittings. The liquid inside is petroleum (kerosene) and can be exchanged or refilled upon inspection. The obverse features the red sighting aids. The reverse slide works well. The back is marked "AK-39" (Armkompass 1939) along with the register number "FL 23235-1". See page 402 of "Military Timepieces" by Konrad Knirim. The face measures 2 3/8 inches in diameter. Overall a great piece!
