Early Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Gebr. Bell of Solingen-Gr.. Based on construction this piece can accurately be dated to early-1934. The thin blade on this one looks excellent. The acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto remains nicely visible. The stamped GB “Gebr. Bell Solingen-Gr.” maker mark and “Ges. Geschützt” patent mark are beautifully executed. The crossgrain is easily visible as you shine it in the light. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade rates NM. It shows age grey/spotting and the slightest oxidization to the reverse just above the buffer pad. The brown leather buffer pad remains intact. The sheet metal based black enamel painted scabbard is in great condition. It has some oxidization spotting throughout, remains dent free and retains 80% paint coverage. It has one large runner. The quality brown scabbard leather is in excellent condition. It is “LFS” marked. It has all of its rivets intact and the snap continues to work well. The cast iron based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 80%+ of its plating. It has oxidization spots throughout. The grip plates are black checkered thin bakelit. Both solid nickel-silver rivets remain tightly secured. The medium HJ diamond retains 40% of its enamel. It looks as though someone took a file to it. The blade on this one is its best feature.
