A Transitional Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Hartkopf & Co. of Solingen – RZM M.7/40/38.. The thick ricassoed blade on this one looks good. The acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto remains nice and dark. The stamped dual devil head “Hartkopf & Co. Solingen” maker mark and “RZM M.7/40/38.” RZM mark are in wonderful condition. The crossgrain looks great as you shine it in the light. The fit continues to remain nice and tight. The blade rates an Exc+. It has a hit to the center of the cutting edge, along with some pitting throughout and the tip has been re-shaped/sharpened. The buffer pad remains intact. The sheet metal based black enamel painted scabbard looks great. It remains completely dent free and retains 99%+ paint coverage. It has two scabbard runners. The black scabbard leather is in wonderful condition. Minor crazing to the typical pressure points. The snap continues to work well. The cast iron based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 99%+ of its plating. The black checkered grip plates are in perfect condition and tightly secured with two nickel-silver grip rivets. A rarer example by Hartkopf. Textbook early-1938 construction.
