Transitional Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Hartkoff & Co. of Solingen – RZM M.7/40/38. The ricassoed blade on this one looks good. The stamped dual devil heads “Hartkoff & Co Solingen” and “RZM M.7/40/38” maker marks are beautifully executed. Traces of crossgrain remain visible. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is tightly secured. The blade rates an Exc++. It has heavy scratches throughout along with minor age grey and spotting. The sheet metal black enamel painted scabbard is in excellent shape. It retains 90%+ paint coverage and remains dent free. It has two runners. The leather is in wonderful condition. All of its rivets are intact and the stocko marked snap continues to work well! The cast-iron based nickel-silver plated hilt is in great shape. Minor hits to the spine. The black bakelite checkered grip plates are secured with two nickel-silver grip rivets. The obverse grip plate has a crack through it visible to the diamond’s edges. The large HJ diamond retains 99%+ of its enamel. A solid piece.
