What a piece! Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Josef Reuleaux of Solingen-Wald. McSarr rates this maker as a 10 out of 10 for rarity! The blade on this one is gorgeous! The acid etched “Alles fur Deutschland” motto and “Josef Reuleaux 7 Solingen-Wald” maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain is stunning and easily visible as you shine it in the light. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates a Mint-. There are scratches and runner marks throughout. The sheet metal based brown anodized scabbard is in wonderful condition. It remains completely dent free and retains 90% of its original factory lacquer. It has the slightest oxidization spotting. The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings are in wonderful shape. The ball is perfectly round and all four screws remain intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap. The solid nickel-silver crossguards are in wonderful shape as well, matching the scabbard fittings in color and patina. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau stamped “P” (Pommern). The brown hardwood grip looks excellent. It shows the typical bumps and bruises and a wee split above the roundel. No chips and perfect fits. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel also has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. A gorgeous rare example.
