Kingdom of Bavaria, WWI - Dienstauszeichnung 3.Klasse für 9 Jahre 1913. Introduced August 30, 1913, by Prince Regent Luitpold, this was awarded to service members who gave 9 years of loyal service to the Kingdom of Bavaria. It is constructed out of a die struck nickel-silver base that has been silver washed. The round shaped obverse features the Bavarian shield surrounded by an oak leaf wreath on a cross with “Treue Dienste Bei Der Fahne” within the arms. The reverse has the roman numerals “IX” on a shield surrounded by an oak leaf wreath and surrounded by “Dienstauszeichning III. Klasse”. To the top is a loop and ring which holds 5 inches of the original blue and white rayon ribbon. It measures 1 5/16 inches in diameter.
