A Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Gebrüder Heller, of Schmalkalden. The blade on this one is gorgeous! The acid etched “Alles fur Deutschland” motto and anchor “Gebrüder Heller Schmalkalden” maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain is absolutely stunning and very fine which is textbook for heller. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates a NM. There is the slightest spotting along with scratches and runner marks throughout. The sheet metal based brown anodized scabbard is in wonderful condition. It has two wee impressions, but you have to look at it in just the right angle against the light. It retains 85% of its original factory lacquer. The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings are in wonderful shape. The ball has been pushed upwards with the slightest 1/2mm split, yet retains a round profile. All four screws remain intact. The solid nickel-silver crossguards are in wonderful shape as well. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau stamped “Mi” (Mitte). The brown hardwood grip looks excellent. It shows typical bruises and scratches yet remains chip and crack free, as perfect fits and holds some of its original factory lacquer. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel also has a good fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. A beautiful piece.
