A Early Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by K. & Co. of Solingen. The blade on this one looks great. The acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto, stamped deer heads “K. & Co Solingen” maker mark and “Ges. Geschützt” patent mark are dark, crisp and beautifully executed. It has a solid fit and a perfect tip. Traces of crossgrain remain. The blade rates Exc++. It has about five nicks to the cutting edge, age grey throughout and visible runner marks. The original sealed brown leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The sheet metal based black enamel painted scabbard looks great. It has spidering throughout. It retains 97% paint coverage and remains dent free. It has one runner. The knife to scabbard fit is tight. The folded over brown leather strap remains intact. The rivet holding the button strap is a replacement. The inside of the leather is faintly “LFS” marked. The leather is in wonderful condition! The snap continues to work well. The hilt is constructed out of a cast iron base that has been nickel-silver plated. The two black checkered bakelite grip plates are in excellent condition. Tightly secured with two nickel-silver grip rivets. To the center obverse of the grip has a HJ diamond with 99%+ enamel remaining. A great example!
