1st model Luftwaffe dagger (Fliegerdolch) by F&A Helbig of Steinbach. The bright plated blade on this one has been polished hard resulting in the loss of some plating. The lightly engraved "F. & A. Helbig Gaefler Steinbach Kr.M." maker mark looks good. The blade rates an Exc. 80% of the buffer remains. The steel based, releathered scabbard looks good. It remains completely dent free! The scabbard fittings are steel. They have wear. Five screws remain intact. The aluminum OLC marked chain is in excellent condition. It has 7 upper ringlets and 9 lower, ending at a well working clip! The solid nickel hilt and pommel look good. All four of the separately inserted brass swastikas look great! The wood based, blue pebbled leather grip has some wear and scuffs. The triple, brass grip wires remain intact and tightly secured! If you can forgive the releathering this is a bargain.
