A Numbered - Early Model 1933 Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by Robert Klaas of Solingen. The blade on this one has been cleaned hard and repointed by 10mm. The deep acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and kissing kranes “Robert Klaas Solingen” maker mark are both lightened somewhat. The blade is nicely seated up against the hilt. It has been repointed and is 10mm short. The blade rates Exc. The dent-free steel based black anodized scabbard looks excellent. It continues to hold a nice dark finish with light surface oxidation. The nickel-silver based scabbard fittings have nice patina exactly matching the hilt. The ball has been bashed in. All four scabbard screws remain intact, one is a replacement. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect! The nickel-silver crossguards look excellent. The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamp “I” (Munich). The underside is numbered: “69368”—perhaps some research could turn up who this guy was! The black died hardwood grip has cracking/chipping toward the upper fitting. The solid nickel-silver eagle is nicely detailed with a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 95%+ of its enamel! Overall a fine looking piece.
