Sawback Hunting Cutlass

Interesting Hunting Cutlass here. The fittings are all blackened steel to include the scabbard mounts. The fittings all have the lightest of wear. The single fullered sawback blade measures about 8". This is a heavy weapon having a most impressive look to it. The pommel cap is very detailed having the fluted upper area. There is an acorn at the top that acts as the tang nut. The ferrule and crossguard are plain. An exceptional piece of stag was chosen to compliment this weapon. The stag is a large diameter and it curves to the left. The stag has beautiful raised graining and a multitude of browns from black to yellow. The scabbard shell is also a fine example having a composition base covered with fine grained brown leather with decorative scribed lines running down the edges. Other than a couple of bumps in the leather here and there it remains in good condition. The scabbard mounts are matching steel both having fine scalloped edges where they meet the scabbard shell. These mounts are retained by matching staples. The lower mount is a bit loose. This unmarked blade is in good shape with a few dots of age, it rates easily in at Exc+. Included is a bayonet style brown frog in nice shape.
