Subordinate Forestry Cutlass by Eickhorn

Here's a beauty cutlass. The plated blade is stamped with the mid-period Eickhorn logo to the reverse. The triple etched surface is in very good shape being a nice crisp and deep and dark. The top edge has a perfect oak-leaf motif with a crisp distributor mark, "W. Michovius Cottbus". No, not necessary but always nice to see this went through the famous distributor. The spine pattern is a leaf motif. The blade shows no evidence of sharpening or damage and just a couple dots of age about the maker mark. The blade measures 13" and rates as NM. Original green buffer pad intact, just peek underneath an you will see an assembly #. The hilt has just the lightest evidence of use and some plating lifting yet retains nice gilding!! The clamshell is nicely cast. The D-guard terminates with the classic deer hoof that has all been hand chased. Nice stag grip plates have 3 acorns. The stag plates are perfect with no chips or cracks. All the plated brass scabbard fittings are in good shape showing wear but no dents. Great leather all the stitches are intact. Nicely finishing this is a nice frog.
