Early Model 1933 Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by Robert Klaas of Solingen. The blade on this one looks good. The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and kissing kranes “Robert Klaas Solingen” maker mark are both beautifully executed. The blade is nicely seated up against the hilt and the and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates Exc+/Exc++. It has been cleaned which has rid most of the spotting but has removed most of the crossgrain. The steel based black anodized scabbard looks excellent. There is the odd area of oxidization spotting. It continues to hold a nice dark finish. The nickel-silver based scabbard fittings are in wonderful condition. The ball has a few bumps yet retains a nice round shape. All four scabbard screws remain intact. The scabbard to crossguard fit is quite fine The nickel-silver crossguards look excellent as well, matching the crossguards perfectly in color and patina. The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamp “I” (Munich). The black died hardwood grip is in fine shape, free of cracks and chips. There are normal pressure marks. The solid nickel-silver eagle is nicely detailed with a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 99%+ of its enamel and also has a perfect fit! Overall a fine looking piece.
