Eickhorn 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger

A M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The blade on this one has some age and wear but crossgrain remains. The etched “Original Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark is crisp and dark executed. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade on this one rates Exc+. It shows surface scratches throughout. The original leather buffer pad remains intact. The Eickhorn steel based airplane grey scabbard looks great. It has random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. It remains completely dent free and the two headless throat retaining screws remain intact! The burnished aluminum Luftwaffe eagle crossguard has good detail to its head, feathers, wings and top side embossed oak leaves and acorns. The steel ferrule and guilt generic pommel look excellent as well. The trylon grip has aged to a pleasing deep orange with time. It has wear but no chips or cracks. The aluminum springy wire wrap remains tightly intact. Finally the original portepee remains. A nice example!
