Stamped alloy gorget with a bronze wash. The half-moon shaped gorget measures roughly, 24cm wide from upper tip to tip and, 12cm tall. The gorget features a separate, stylized, bronze washed, embossed national eagle with outstretched wings mounted to the front center with a raised outer edge lip with an embossed, repeating, oak-leaf pattern. The reverse of the raised edge lip is rolled over and crimped at the back of the gorget. The reverse of the gorget has a brown wool covering. Maker marked "M5/8", indicating manufacture by F.W. Assman. Complete with correct manufacturer marked "M1/17" chain. Overall excellent condition exhibiting minor storage age and patina.
