A Model 1934 - Sturmabteilung Ehrendolch mit Widmung by Friedrick Dick of Esslingen. Ernst Rohm Honour Daggers were granted to members of the SS and SA who either had interrupted service since December 31,1931, or those who transferred from the Hitler Youth prior to that time. After the Night of the Long Knives, Röhm was declared a “traitor” and removal of the inscription was mandated. Here we have a rare Rohm maker at a good price! The blade on this one has had the inscription removed by the SA guy himself in a backyard job. He did not get all the inscription and small portions remain giving away it's dark past. The blade has been cleaned and suffers some fingerprint stain and some age. See how the maker mark is placed longitudinally on the blade, cool! and the rarer way these were executed, some were done horizontally. The tip is perfect and the fit is nice and tight! The blade rates Exc+. The brown painted scabbard is a later RZM variety that is not what this was issued with. Regardless it looks good with scratches and wear. It remains completely dent free! The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings look excellent matching the crossguards in color and patina. The ball is undamaged and all four scabbard screws remain intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap!The plated scabbard fittings are in great shape and the ball is perfect. All four screws remain tightly secured! The solid nickel crossguards are in great shape. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau stamped "Wm", (Westmark). The deep red hardwood grip looks great. There are some minor pressure marks and a hairline north of the roundel. The solid nickel eagle is properly pinned and has a perfect fit with beautiful detail. The SA roundel also has a perfect fit and retains 98% of its enamel. A solid example with a variant F. Dick mark!
