“Sonderabzeichen für das Niederkämpfen von Panzerkampfwagen durch Einzelkämpfer”; Darkened magnetic tank with crisp details; superimposed on silver interwoven braid; edged with two black rayon stripes on top and the bottom; without backing; a textbook example, in slightly worn condition; measuring approximately H 32 mm x W 90 mm. The silver tank destruction badge was awarded to soldiers who had single-handedly destroyed an enemy tank or “armoured combat vehicle” using a hand-held weapon. Panzerjäger/Anti-Tank Squads were not eligible for this award. The tank destruction badge was established on March 9th, 1942.
