Multi-piece construction; maltesian cross in gilded silver and well-preserved white enamel; four national eagles (Hoheitszeichen) between the arms of the cross; stamped on suspension eyelet “900” and “21”; measuring ca. H 50.6 mm x W 50.5 mm, weighing ca. 29.1 grams; complete with 24cm length of neck ribbon; original case of issue; constructed of heavy pressed paper with a red leatherette exterior; embossed with a golden national eagle on the outside lid with a golden line on all four edges of the top lid; interior of the lid lined in off-white silk; embossed “Deutschen Adlerorden 1. Stufe” in golden lettering on the inside of the lid; with a black recessed medal bed; functional clasp for opening and closing; intact interior hinge cover; functional exterior metal hinge; moderate scuffing to exterior; measuring ca. 180 mm x 140 mm.
