RAD Officer’s Brocade Belt and Buckle

Here we have a RAD Officers Brocade Belt and Buckle (Reichsarbeitsdienst Paradefeldbinde für Führer) by F. W. Assmann & Söhne of Lüdenscheid 1937. The RAD Officers Buckle was introduced in 1936. It is constructed out of a die struck aluminum-alloy base that has been silver washed. The round shaped obverse depicts a RAD emblem, which consists of: a mobile swastika above an upright spade shovel head, this lies on a circular textured background which is encircled by a pebbled ring and five wheat leaves on a line type pattern and is all encircled by a smooth boarder. The reverse shows a hollow backing with a crimped on catch and hinge assembly. It is also clearly maker marked: “A DRGM 37.” (F. W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid | Deutsches Reiches Gebrauchs Musterschutz | 1937). The buckle shows wonderfully detailed throughout. It measures approximately 1 7/8 inches in diameter. The buckle is attached to a size 105 quality ribbed, woven bright silver/aluminum and brown rayon construction brocade belt. The exterior of the belt has three horizontal brown lines surrounded by silver flatwire/aluminum thread with chain link stitching to the top and bottom. It has the odd thread catch. It also has two vertical adjustment slides, in the same construction. The interior is lined in a brown-green wool and has a stitched on 18 hole punched tan brown leather tongue. The tongue shows evidence of wear. Attached to the tongue is the proper rectangular aluminum wire catch. The belt is in wonderful condition!
