A Tapferkeits und Verdienst Auszeichnung für Ostvölker 2. Klasse in Gold by 100 - Rudolf Wächtler & Lange of Mittweida. Instituted July 14, 1942, the 2nd Class Ostvolk Medal was award for bravery and merit for members of the Eastern peoples who were in the auxiliary service of the Wehrmacht and had distinguished themselves through exemplary fulfillment of their duties. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc base that has been gold gilded. The obverse depicts a centrally placed rosette that is surrounded by a laurel leaf and berry wreath that is encircled by a rope pattern, is above two crossed broad swords and an eight pointed sunburst pattern. The reverse shows a semi-hollow back. To the top is an integral loop and “100” maker marked ring, which holds 4 inches of original folded green and red ribbed rayon ribbon. The reverse factory pin has let loose and is attached with the pin. It could be fixed. The gold gilt has been absorbed by the zinc. It measures 1 1/2 inches wide and tall.
