A Model 1934 SS Ground Röhm Honor Dagger (Schutzstaffel Ehrendolch) by G. Hammesfahr of Solingen. Röhm honor daggers were granted to members of the SS/SA who either had interrupted service since December 31st 1931 or those who transferred from the Hitler Youth prior to December 31st 1931. After the Night of the Long Knives, Ernst Röhm was declared a "traitor" and removal of the inscription became law. The blade on this one has age and evidence it's been cleaned hard. The acid etched “Meine Ehere Heißt Treue” motto is nicely executed but lightened somewhat from the cleaning. The “In herzlicher freundshaft, Ernst Röhm” inscription and maker mark have been mostly removed. There are areas however where you can see portions of the inscription. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is perfect as well. The blade rates an easy Exc. The scabbard is steel based and black repainted. It shows some surface wear. The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings are in excellent condition and have beautifully patinaed with time. The ball is bent and all four screws remain intact! The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings look great. The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamped "135559" over “I” (Munich). The black hardwood grip shows several pressure marks throughout and what looks like a chip that's been glued into the upper right obverse corner. If you look hard at the grip this is a bit of tigerstripe to the upper midsection. The solid nickel silver eagle retains beautiful detail and has a perfect fit. The SS runes retains 99%+ of its enamel and has perfect fit.
