Walter Prien's 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger w Damascus Blade

A M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch). Nice clean example. Blade is a Exc++ example with just wonderful real damascus large rose pattern most likely manufactured by Dinger or Wester, (Thanks James for that!). The tang is stamped "1". The blade is seated through a brown leather washer into a nice aluminum based crossguard. It been stuck in there 80 years and I'm not going to force it out. The blade is personalized having been awarded to Walter Prien on the occasion of his promotion to Leutnant of a Koblenz Flak unit, "Prien 1.6.43". Source: Luftwaffe Officer Career Summaries. All the aluminum fittings are in fine shape with the backgrounds being burnished. Scabbard is a mid-period generic example with a plated finish. Throat is retained by 2 screws. Original trylon grip is flawless with original brass wire wrap. This is a great dagger with potential for further research.
