A M1937 Fliegerdolch by A. Schuttelhofer of Solingen. The blade on this one looks good. It has a beautifully executed, dark, acid etched maker mark. It has some age towards the tip which is ever so slightly dulled. The blade on this one rates a solid Exc. The leather buffer pad remains intact. The dark dent-free airplane grey plated later generic scabbard has wear. It depicts good details throughout, with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. The throat is retained with a slip fit which we do see occasionally on later pieces as well as larger rings. The burnished aluminum eagle crossguard, steel ferrule and aluminum pommel all look awesome! The eagle has amazing detail to its head, feathers, wings and top side oak leaves and acorns. The pommel is beautifully hand enhanced! The chip and crack-free trylon grip has aged to a deep yellow/orange over time. The wire wrap remains tightly intact. The portepee is repaired and tied back on, who when and how IDK. A reasonably priced example by a rarer maker.
