Early Army Dagger by Carl Eickhorn

A Model 1935 Heer Dolch by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The blade on this one looks great. The acid etched “Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark is dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The fine crossgrain looks excellent as you turn it in the sun. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade rates Exc++ with some old fingerprint stain. The original leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based nickel-silver plated scabbard is gorgeous with wonderful age patina. It provides great detail with the random pebbling throughout and hand enhanced oak leaf and acorn bands. It remains completely dent free and the original throat retaining screw continues to remain intact. The nickel-silver plated 1st pattern Eickhorn crossguard provides crisp detail. The pommel and ferrule are also beautifully detailed with proud oak leaves and acorns. The deep orange trylon grip on this one shows a couple scuffs and a wee crack to the mid obverse. Now I say a crack and it's very old maybe a crease or small defect. It shows age patina to the crevasses. Completely patching patina throughout. A nice example.
