Model 1939 - Postschutz Dolch für Führer by Paul Weyersberg & Co. of Solingen. The acid etched oval “Paul Weyersberg & Co. Solingen” wreathed broad sword manufacturers marking looks good and dark. The tip comes to a perfect point. Nice crossgrain remains. The blade rates NM. The black leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based black painted scabbard is in excellent condition. The three nickel-silver plated scabbard fittings remain in nice condition. They are all tightly secured with all five original screws. The nickel-silver chain is complete ending at the correct zinc “DRGM” marked well working clip. The scabbard sits perfectly up against the hilt. The crossguard and pommel are solid nickel-silver and plated. The two enameled swastikas are in perfect condition. The bottom of the crossguard is stamped “DRP” (Deutsches Reichpost) and is numbered “906”. The chip and crack-free hardwood grip is boiled and died black. It has a properly pinned on DRP eagle emblem to the front and center. Minor hits to the pommel to the wood. These postal pieces are getting very tough to come by!
