Long Subordinate Forestry Cutlass by Puma

Seitengewehr/Hirschfänger für Forstbeamte. The 13 inch blade is a triple etched type. It is in NM condition having good frosting. The fine etching depicting bores, stags, dogs, birds and hunters all in hunting settings. The green felt buffer pad remains intact. The hilt is a finely cast brass example with good detail. The chip-free grip plates are produced in stag. These plates are further decorated with very fine acorn nuts and leaves known to be Puma. The "D" guard begins with a detailed hoof, and after passing through the crossguard ending in a 2nd hoof. The clamshell is the fluted type. The scabbard has an excellent black leather shell, showing no age. The gilded fittings showing period wear and have scalloped edge where they meet the shell. The lower hand-decorated with dual scribed lines. The upper fitting has the standard acorn lug. Included is the hard to come by original frog. Puma is the only maker to use those particular acorns and the etch is known to Puma as well. -Thanks Gary!!
