2nd Model Navy Dagger by WKC

Here we have a 2nd Model Navy Dagger (Kriegsmarine Dolch) by WKC - Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Cie AG of Solingen. The plain blade on this one is mint. The stamped knights head "WKC" maker mark is clear. The fit is snug and the tip is perfect. Two buffer pads are on it. The brass based pre-3rd Reich reef knot scabbard has a couple dents to the lower end. You can find them with your fingers. It retains its original side throat retaining screws. The center mounted button release functions fine but does need a bit of pressure to release. The 3rd Reich pommel provides wonderful patina and detail to the anchor and proud eagle perched on top. The chip and crack-free celluloid grip is damage-free. It has a few rubs and looks great. It has the correct double twisted wire wrap, that remains nice and tight. There is no plate between the crossguard and the blade on this one. Why? my best guess is that when this was upgraded with the 3rd Reich pommel there was trouble getting it all to fit up and it was discarded in favor of a second buffer.
