An early Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by C.F. Kaiser & Co. of Solingen. This one rates 9 out of 10 for rarity on McSaar's SA rarity rating. The blade on this one looks good! The blade has some age a gray. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! This blade rates a Exc. It shows some evidence of cleaning and some crossgrain remains. The steel based brown anodized scabbard looks excellent. The ring has been pulled oval, no big deal, you can fix if you want but this is how it landed. The scabbard body shows minor oxidization spotting. Hard to photograph but if you turn this just so in the sun it has this beautiful copper sheen. The solid nickel scabbard fittings look excellent! The ball has taken a ump to the bottom, not too bad. Four scabbard screws are intact, one is a replacement. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked “Om” (Ostmark). One of the rarer Gau marks. All of the fittings show nice matching patina. The light hardwood grip shows a few normal marks from wear. There is a miniscule chip to the lower left obverse corner. If I didn't tell you you would never see it. The reverse upper has some hairlines. The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful details! The SA roundel has nice patina, a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. This has never been apart. Included is the original 3 piece hanger that it came with. A rare example direct from the Vet's family!
