A gorgeous M1938 - 2nd Model Kriegsmarine Dolch für Administrative Offiziere by WKC (Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie.) of Solingen. This is an interesting configuration of 2nd model Navy. All the brass components have been silver washed. I carefully unscrews the pommel and each brass component was sliver plated and what's interesting is that in the wear areas the silver has worn away so you can see the underlying brass. The plating was obviously done in the period, very hard to fake this wear. Done at the factory as a special order, or later buy the first owner? Blade features a beautiful dark etched motif, hammered scabbard and a knot! It doesn’t get better than this! The uncleaned etched blade on this one is excellent and provide a beautiful dark contrast to the bright blade! The stamped knights head “WKC” maker mark is also beautifully executed! The fit is perfect, as is the tip. The release button functions perfectly! The blade rates a solid Exc++. It shows some minor age. The original red felt buffer pad remains intact. The dent-free brass based hammered scabbard looks excellent, especially with the hand enhancing on the scabbard loops! It retains both of its original side throat screws. It does show minor bumps from wear. The crossguard and pommel provide wonderful detail to the anchor and proud 1st pattern eagle perched on top. The chip and crack-free grip looks awesome! It has the correct double twisted wire wrap, that remains nice and tight. This one comes with tight and a correctly tied portepee that has a few wee frays. This one was a pleasure to photograph. It doesn't get much better than this!
