Etched Long Stag Bayonet by Höller
Extraseitengewehr by Holler of Solingen. A beautiful etched example awaiting display in your collection! The obverse of the etched blade, displays a machine gun crew, artillery battery and an advancing tank under a elegant bannered “Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit” inscription. Good details to the oak leaves and acorns. It is also clearly stamped with the “F W. Höller Solingen” maker mark. All of the features are crisp and clear, just the way you want to see them! The blade rates an Exc++! There is a black stain to the spine and minor surface scratches. The buffer pad is lost to time. The steel based, black enamel painted scabbard looks great! It shows some wear yet it continues to 99%+ coverage and remains completely dent free! The original throat retaining screw remains intact. The hilt looks good with some plating loss. The stag grip plates are in excellent condition. They are tightly secured to the hilt with two brass rivets. The pommel has a well working button! Shown in F. W. Höller 1941 catalog. See Techet’s “German Etched Dress Bayonets” pg 176. Truly a beautiful etch that would fit nicely into your collection!
