Eickhorn Ground Rohm SA Dagger

A Model 1934 - Sturmabteilung Ehrendolch mit Widmung by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. Ernst Rohm Honour Daggers were granted to members of the SS and SA who either had interrupted service since December 31,1931, or those who transferred from the Hitler Youth prior to that time. After the Night of the Long Knives, Röhm was declared a “traitor” and removal of the inscription was mandated. The small serrated double oval C.E. Eickhorn trademark with the Röhm inscription is early. The blade has stain and age. It has been cleaned at some point. It has a deep "Alles fur Deutschland" motto! The Rohm inscription is 90% removed. The tip is perfect, the fit is nice and tight. The blade rates Exc. The brown anodized scabbard retains good finish with some oxidation. There is a small impression to the lower obverse, about 2" north of the lower fitting. Hard to see but you can find it with your fingers. The scabbard fittings have some minor wear. The ball has taken a hit and is split. Four screws remain intact, 2 are replacements. The scabbard to crossguard fit is good. Nice hand chased nickel guards are exactly the ones Eickhorn used on early SA's, if you taken this apart you will find them "HE" marked. The reverse of the lower crossguard is gau stamped "Ns", (Niedersachsen). It is not bench marked which we do see. The early wood grip has a hairline to the lower reverse. The correct solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed with a perfect fit. The SA roundel retains 99% of its enamel and also has a perfect fit.
