The helmet retains a good portion of its original feldgrau factory paint. As we so often see there are some fine dots of paint from the Vet's garage were I liberated it last week! The interior left side apron is stamped with the faint, manufacturers code and size, "Si66", indicating manufacture by Eisenhuette Silesia, Paruschowitz Oberschlesien size 66. Just above that the helmet has been penetrated by a bullet or perhaps shrapnel. The WWI natural leather liner is intact, with steel retaining band, three leather pads with two fingers each, with cotton pockets to the reverse. Liner adjustment string is present. The cotton pockets to the reverse of leather pads have their original tie strings intact and still contain padding. All the fingers are intact but the tie string has ripped through. One liner rivet is lost. Chin strap is intact. Nice untouched helmet.
