Russian M36 Helmet

The steel alloy helmet, whose exterior is painted olive green, has a shallow visor to its front and is otherwise flared along its edges, which sweep down over each ear and rise slightly in the back. Ventilation hole with dome to the top. Most of the olive green paint remains. Nice complete original liner and chinstrap. This type of liner is from M36s first used in the Spanish civil war. The liner has 7 leather "fingers" and is held in place with 3 dome rivets. I am not able to identify this exact liner but several variations exist.

  • Note a respected collector just advised me: "...having seen a few of these in the past I believe that your helmet was sent to Spain during the Civil War and possibly given the leather liner and chin strap there."
