SMF Luftwaffe Sword
Luftwaffen Schwert by SMF - Solinger Metallwarenfabrik Stoecker & Co. of Solingen. These later aluminum examples utilized the new material, (aluminum) that the Luftwaffe designed all their airplanes with. This is a nice example. The scabbard retains its factory Moroccan blue leather perfectly matching the grip. There are a few wee pressure marks and a couple scuffs as one expects to see on original examples. The 28" plated blade is Exc++ with just a few small areas of grey. The reverse is inspection stamped above the maker marked blade. The blade is seated through an intact pebbled blue leather washer into the solid aluminum crossguard. The pommel has nice hand enhancing to the edges. The grip is double wrapped with 2 springy aluminum wires. The original leather remains intact to the grip. It has a few pressure marks. The fitting are correctly retained with headless screws. The hanger is lost to time. Nice example from the Vet's son.
