Transitional Hitler Youth Knife by Hartkopf & Co. 1937
Transitional Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Hartkoff & Co. of Solingen – RZM M.7/40/37. The ricassoed blade on this one looks good. The acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto, stamped dual devil heads “Hartkoff & Co. Solingen” maker mark, “Ges. Geschützt” law protection mark, and “RZM M.7/40/37” marks are beautifully executed. Traces of crossgrain remain visible. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is tightly secured. The blade rates an Exc++. It has heavy scratches throughout along with age grey and spotting. The sheet metal black enamel painted scabbard is in great shape. It retains 80% paint coverage and remains dent free. It has two runners. The “LFS” marked leather is in wonderful condition. All of its rivets are intact and the stocko marked snap continues to work well. The iron based nickel-silver plated hilt is in good shape as well. The black bakelite checkered grip plates are secured with two nickel-silver grip rivets. The reverse has poor fits. The small HJ diamond retains 98%+ of its enamel. Textbook very early 1937 characteristics.
