Japan – Civilian Defense Helmet

Japan, WWII – IJA “Type 90” Civilian Defence Helmet. The shell is constructed out of a die stamped steel base that has been field grey painted. The front-center features the IJA metal star that is affixed with two flatwire prongs. It retains all four rivets, also attached with flatwire prongs. To the interior these rivets hold the webbed liner. The interior also features three soldered-on D-ring retaining fastenings for the chin strap, attached to the sides and back. There is kanji to the back, likely a name. Minor oxidization throughout. It measures 10 7/8 inches long by 9 ¾ inches wide by 5 ¾ inches tall.
