2nd Pattern - Abzeichen des SA-Treffens Braunschweig 1931 by RZM 17 – F. W. Assmann & Sohne of Lüdenscheid. Originally created as a day event badge for the for the SA rally hosted by SA-Gruppe Nord at Brunswick on October 17 & 18, 1931. Hitler audaciously brought a larger contingent of SA/SS to the event than was anticipated and dominated the event. On November 6, 1936, as a commemoration, the badge was elevated to a “Traditions” award and was allowed to be worn as an official award by those who had taken part. It is constructed out of a die struck nickel-silver base that has been blacked. The oval shaped obverse reads “S-A Treffen Braunschweig 17./18. Oktober 1931” on a smooth background surrounded by an oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom with a bow tie and has a 1927 pattern national eagle to the top. The hollow back reverse is marked: “RZM 17 Ges. Gesch.”, it also has a vertically soldered-on working tombak pin assembly. It measures 1 7/16 inches wide by 2 inches high. One you won't want to miss!
