2nd Pattern Fallschirmschützenabzeichen des Heer by C.E. Juncker of Berlin. Re-instituted June 1, 1943, the Army Paratrooper Badge was awarded to officers, NCOs and soldiers who successfully completed a parachute shooting training course. The authorization to carry was checked once a year and was dependent on at least 6 jumps per year. It is constructed out of a two-piece zinc base that have been gold gilded / silver washed and finished in a brennlack coating. The oval shaped obverse depicts a silvered diving eagle above/surrounded by a gilded half laurel leaf and berry, half oak leaf and acorn wreath all below an army closed winged eagle that is clutching a mobile swastika in its talons. The full-back reverse correctly displays; a soldered-on tombak block hinge (steel hinge-pin), a soldered-on tombak round plate flatwire catch (minor crack), a steel round wire pin and two brass dome rivets. The gilding, silvering and detail are all in beautiful condition! It measures 2 1/8 inches tall by 1 11/16 of an inch wide.
