A Model 1934 - Sturmabteilung Ehrendolch mit Widmung by Ed. Wüsthof of Solingen. Ernst Röhm Honour Daggers were granted to members of the SS and SA who either had interrupted service since December 31, 1931, or those who transferred from the Hitler Youth prior to that time. After the Night of the Long Knives, Röhm was declared a “traitor” and removal of the inscription was mandated. As only the name has been removed this variation is known as a Partial Röhm. It looks to be a backyard removal that has been later cleaned and is known as a “Lazy Man’s Röhm”. These daggers are rare and desirable piece among the collecting community.

The blade on this one looks great. The acid etched “In herzlicher kameradschaft Ernst Röhm” inscription, “Alles für Deutschland” motto and trident “Ed. Wüsthof Solingen” maker mark are all beautifully executed. The crossgrain looks wonderful and is easily visible as you shine it in the light. It has a perfect fit and tip. The blade rates Exc++/NM. It has been cleaned, especially to the name shows, it also shows age grey and scratches throughout. The sheet metal brown anodized scabbard is in great condition. The brown finish has faded and it shows oxidization spotting throughout. The solid nickel scabbard fittings look great. They have a fine patinaed yellow hue to them, likely from smoke. It remains dent free. The ball has a bump yet retains a fine round profile. All four screws remain intact. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect. The solid nickel-silver crossguards match the scabbard fittings exactly in color and patina. Always nice to see as it confirms these have been together forever. It is Gau marked: “Nrh” (Niederrhein). The crossguard / grip fits are perfect. The brown grained hardwood grip is in nice condition. It has scratches and a crack visible to the reverse. The solid nickel eagle has that same patina, has excellent detail and a perfect fit. The SA roundel retains 97%+ of its enamel and also has a perfect fit. Nice matching patina to the pommel nut as well. A very fine example of a SA Partial Röhm Honor Dagger.
