Early Carl Schmidt Sohn SA Dagger

An Early Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Carl Schmidt Sohn. The blade has some age gray and stain. It has been cleaned and some crossgrain remains. The fit is nice and tight. It's been repointed at some point 2.5mm., (about the width) of 2 dimes. The acid etched "Alles fur Deutschland" motto and "Carl Schmidt Sohn A.-G. Solingen" maker mark are clearly executed! The blade rates Exc. The dent-free brown anodized scabbard looks good with most of the lacquer remaining. The solid nickel scabbard fittings are in great shape. The ball has a tiny kiss to the bottom but you have to go looking to find it. All four screws remain intact! The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The solid nickel crossguards are also in great condition and match the scabbard fittings in color and wear. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gruppe stamped "Wf", (Westfalen). The grip / crossguard fits are perfect! The hardwood grip has a smooth finish and, no chips, cracks or splits! Just the common pressure marks. It looks to me like this was de-Nazified at some point and the eagle and roundel have been replaced. Who, when were, I have no idea. The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful details. The SA roundel is sitting proud and retains 99% of its enamel. Overall a solid example that will surely look great in your collection!
