Short Dress Bayonet by Horster

A short Extraseitengewehr by E.u. F. Horster of Solingen. The single edged, fullered 20mm plated blade on this one has rubs and scratches. Almost looks like some tried to sharpen it, I ay almost because it's not sharpened! The stamped "E.u. F. Horster” maker mark is beautifully executed! The tip comes to a nice point and the fit is nice and tight! The blade rates Exc+. The leather buffer pad remains. The dent-free steel based black enamel painted scabbard shows wear, mostly from the frog rubbing and some scratches. The original throat retaining screw and frog lug remains intact. The ball remains perfectly round. The zinc-alloy based, nickel-silver plated hilt looks great as well. It retains 97%+ of a plating coverage with some scratches. The black checkered bakelite grip plates are in perfect condition being tightly secured to the hilt with two steel rivets. The push button continues to work well! This one comes with a crazed stiff frog. A nice quality piece!
