K98 Bayonet by cof 44

A Wehrmacht Bajonett für K98 by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen 1944. The K98 Bayonet was designed for the German Wehrmacht standard service Karabiner 98 kurz (7.92x57mm Mauser cartridge) bolt-action rifle - 1935. The single edged, single fullered, blued blade on this one look great! The blued panels continue to have a nice and dark finish. The fit is perfect. It is maker marked and dated “cof 44” to the reverse, and “0743 K” (serial/distribution number) to the obverse. The blade rates a solid NM. It shows the rough factory grind we so often see on late war pieces. The steel based, black anodized scabbard has great finish. It is marked "cof 44"matching the blade but is unserialized? The single side screw remains intact. The scabbard sits securely up against the hilt. The hilt looks great! The grip plates are in great condition! They show not wear marks! The button continues to work well. This piece is inspection stamped as one would expect including to the odd shaped ball. This one comes with a worn frog.
