A gorgeous M1938 - 2nd Model Kriegsmarine Dolch für Offiziere by WKC (Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie.) of Solingen. This is the a desirable configuration of 2nd model Navy production dagger. It features a beautiful dark etch fouled anchor motif, hammered scabbard, orange trylon grip and a golden bullion Navy knot! It doesn’t get much better than this! The etched blade on this one is excellent and provides contrast to the bright blade! The stamped knights head “WKC” maker mark is also beautifully executed! The fit is perfect. There are 2 buffers in place. Why I don't know but have seen this before where the pommel does not line up and a 2nd buffer is added to ensure it lines up straight. The release button functions fine. I did find that you have to firmly press the scabbard in for it to click. The blade rates a solid NM. The undented brass based gilt hammered scabbard looks excellent. It retains both of its original side throat screws. The crossguard and pommel provide wonderful detail to the anchor and proud 1st pattern eagle perched on top. The desirable orange trylon grip looks awesome! No hits, chips or cracks! It has the correct double twisted wire wrap, that remains nice and tight. This one comes with tight and a correctly tied early bullion Navy portepee that is frayed.
